Take High Triglycerides Seriously

Triglycerides are a type of blood fat that stores extra energy. High levels are linked to a higher risk of heart disease and pancreatitis.

A level under 150 mg/dL is considered normal. Levels above 500 can carry serious risk (including acute pancreatitis) and need prompt medical attention.

Common causes: too much sugar and refined carbs, alcohol, excess weight, inactivity, uncontrolled diabetes, and certain medications.

  • Cut back on sugar and refined carbs.
  • Reduce or stop alcohol.
  • Move more regularly.
  • Choose fish and omega-3 sources over saturated fat.

Educational content only. If your level is very high (above 500) or you have severe abdominal pain, seek medical care immediately.
