How to Prepare for a Blood Test
تحریریه سلامتیار · Reviewed by: دکتر رضا کریمی · 2 min read

Accurate blood test results depend on proper preparation before the sample is taken.
For tests like fasting glucose and lipid panel, 8–12 hours of fasting is usually required — water only, no tea, coffee, juice or gum.
- Tell the lab about any medication or supplements you take.
- Mention if you are or might be pregnant.
- Mention recent illness, high stress, or poor sleep — these can affect some values.
- Stay hydrated, avoid intense exercise for 24 hours before, and go early in the morning if possible.
This is general guidance — always follow the exact fasting instructions from your doctor or lab requisition.
